Solved Do I need these printers?

I have been having an issue in Photoshop selecting a printer. I have already gone to Printers and Devices and set my laser printer as the default printer. However, every once in a while, the default goes away in favor of the One Note 2010 printer. I would like to delete the Fax, One Note 2010, and Microsoft XPS Document Writer printers hoping that Photoshop will realize which is my default printer.

Any reasons that they need to stay? I have Acrobat Pro to make Pdf's. I am running Windows 8 Home.

I think the real issue lies with the installation of your primary (unnamed) printer; however, based on my experience, you can safely remove the Fax and Microsoft XPS Document Writer if not needed. However, I am not familiar with the One Note 2010 but I suspect it is tied to a 3rd-party program like MS Office.

if your not using one note your free to remove the print device it is what is used to send things to one note and xps is Microsofts version of pdf and is almost never used so you can get rid of it too if you save things as pdf and not xps. you shouldn't have to though what model is your printer and the os?

I discovered that Windows 8 will automatically install a printer if it detects it on the network. I visited my Daughter's house and used her Wifi, later I discovered that her printer had been silently installed on my laptop. Convenient I suppose, but it could prove confusing if you log in to a lot of different networks, all with different printers...

yeah i do IT maintenance and any company i bring my laptop to i get all there printers installed and at the end of the day i usually have about 20 printers lol. Brother HL-2270DW are popular this time of year my house included. gota love double sided printing .

I deleted all three printers, and opened Photoshop. Printed with no problem. I thought I could delete them with no problem but am new to Win8 and didn't want to mess up the computer too soon!
