    HDD errors

    Hello just wondering but it is the second time my netbook has done this (in less than 4 months) but I have had to restart 2 times because of disk errors. Does this mean that my HDD is dying because I need it everyday as I use it for collage

    It is a distinct possibility that your Hard drive is starting to fail but maybe those errors are/were correctable. So, you might want to start off by doing a quick check of your hard drive for errors via going into windows explorer, right-click C drive, select properties, select the Tools tab, and then scan your hard drive for errors to see if any are found. There will also be an option to fix them as they are found (if possible) so select that option if you wish and let's see what happens.

    Now, there may be others that will chime in and recommend a full chkdsk scan right off the bat; however, I am not aware of your level of technical prowess so I though I would recommend something easy to start off with. Good luck,

    In addition to My2Cents.
    FYI, there are no perfect hard drives even a brand new one, they all seem to have some bad spots. I recommend that you run chkdsk from the elevated command prompt.
    1. Win+X->Command Prompt(Admin)
    2. Type: chkdsk /r /f C: ---> /f will fix any error and /r will record all the bad spots in the MFT (Master File Table) so that Windows will avoid using these spots to write data.
    3. Windows will ask you to reboot and will take a while to complete.

    Could you give a very rough estimate for how long it could take to complete?

    if you have a 1TB disk for instance it can take about 4 hours if you do the scan for bad sectors check box which is what you should be doing, also you can try in a elevated command prompt SFC /scannow and see if any of windows files are corrupt as well.
    EDIT: also dont use your computer while it is doing either of those things.

    I doubt they are disk errors but they may be system errors that can be corrected by following this tutorial:
