Hey, Recently Upgraded to Windows 8, and been facing this Problem ever since.

Take a look at this picture.

You see how the display doesn't take up the full screen?
There's black borders on the left, right, top and bottom.
These are the Things I've Tried.

1. Messing with the monitor settings, Including pressing the "Auto" Button on it.
2. Updating the Drivers. I Updated it to the latest AMD Driver that supports windows 8 64 bit as per AMD's website [ I'm Running a HD 7850 ]

This never happened with Windows 7, it was perfectly fine, So I'm positive it's a software problem, and nothing to do with my monitor or VGA.

Any help?

Before I make any suggestions, does this also happen on an explorer view or just when browsing?

This happens throughout.
When I'm in Metro, When I'm in Explorer.. and Even when I Play a game.
It's like windows recognises that as the size of my screen.

Ok, thanks for that important information. So, now I have to start with some basics because I don't know what you have already tried so I apologize in advance for doing so. Anyway, have you check all these (or tried these) items:

1. Download the AMD auto-detect to make sure you are on the very latest driver:
AMD Driver Autodetect

2. Make sure your monitor is is set to its default resolution. I know you said its set to atuo but does that mean it is automatically setting it to its own default resolution or looking at the graphics card setting? I think the latter. Anyway, force it if you have to.

Now for some really stupid suggestions:
3. Make sure your BIOS is set to PCIe (not onboard) and make sure you are plugged into the HD 7870 port. (I know but I have seen this happen before so I have to ask).

4. Check to make sure your resolution is set to your monitors default. Mine is 1600x900:

5. If a self build, are the aux power connections securely attached to the HD card? (Again, sorry to have to ask but I have seen these cards actually work to an extent without the aux power).

6. If all else fails, and you have integrated and/or APU graphics capabilities, try changing you BIOS graphics option to onboard/integrated, and move your monitoer to the mobo connection. That might helpt to further isolat your issue.

So check em' out and if you have tried them all already, then please respond accordingly. Also, sorry to get so basic but I just don't want to miss anything here. Good luck.

1. Up to date on the latest driver as the software says aswell.
2. Monitor is set to 1920x1080 the same as it's been set on Windows.
3. I didn't actually check since I can't reset my PC atm, however Windows tell me that the monitor is connected through the HD 7800 Series adapter, so should definitely be running through the PCI
4. Yep, Set to 1920x1080 as recommended [ ALso run the same setup with windows 7 perfectly fine]
5. Should be connected well, I mean Nothing has been changed since i upgraded from 7 to 8. I Simply input the CD and click on upgrade and it went on like that, No changed to the hardware was made.
6. You're telling me to conect the HDMI cable to the motherboard instead of to the VGA?
I'll try that out aswel, Once I get to restart the computer.
Thanks for the help thus far

Well, yes and no... I was not that specific but now that you have mention HDMI is in the mix, could you try using a DVI cable just for a test? Use it on the "HD card to monitor" and "integrated graphics to monitor" connection if both have a DVI port (of course making the appropriate BIOS toggles along the way). Please understand, at this point I am only concerned about the resolution being correct. If any test results in a "no sound" condition, we can worry about that later. BTW, I'm hoping you monitor is a "true monitor" in every sense of the word and not a TV being used as a monitor. Good luck and let us know.
