If you bother to read the OTHER thread on the 915 chipset, you'll see this is NOT a bug. The Intel 915 drivers are XPDM, not WDDM, and were not designed to work with Windows 8. Several of us are trying out various patches and approaches to see if we CAN get them to work witn Win8 -- but we've not been successful yet.

Keep watching the threads -- you'll see if we have any success.

    Win 8

Installed certificate, then driver. It now sees the graphics with the yellow "!" but honestly I don't care. I wanted my resolution back 1280x800. For all intents and purposes, this fix worked for me. Thank you for the hard effort.

    Fix Intel 910

Have successfully loaded this on a Asus 701ee (Intel GMA 910/915) with Windows 7 installed. It's not straight forward. Firstly install Driver Max (freeware) With driver max installed , search for unrecognised hardware or updates. Install Intel drivers with drivermax with your VGA connected to second monitor. Restart. Search through Device Manager, you should find still an unrecognised device, click right and press update driver, click on search through list of devices option, choose intel gma 910/915 function..;there are 2 functions, it will be either 1 or 0 - the other function will already be installed for standard native display. You will Now be able to get second monitor working; however, to use 1st native monitor uninstall second function or use safe mode(native display settings). You can only use one or the other. If you try to switch in Display settings it will just crash. I just use Safe Mode with networking for native display OR Normal start up for second bigger monitor. With the second monitor installed you can change the resolution to full HD - great ! I have used turbo boost with advanced system care to improve video playback performance. This should probably work with Windows 8 also. This is as on Asus 710ee PC . Disclaimer - follow advice at your own risk. If this doesn't work there is a couple of alternative ways which might work posted on You Tube.

Just HOW MANY TIMES do we have to tell folks here that there is NO Intel 915GM chipset video driver that will work with Windows 8 -- PERIOD!

The Intel drivers are XPDM -- meaning, they are XP drivers that were ported to Vista -- and they will NOT work in Win8 because MS REMOVED XPDM support from Win8. No amount of hacking is going to get that back.

What you get in Win8 for this chipet is the generic VGA drivers -- and that is all there is.

To Mark Phelps. Well if that is so, just stick with Windows 7 and wait for the 8 app store add on to come out for Windows 7 which is inevitable. You have to admit you cant blame anyone in thinking it would work on 8 as it looks exactly like 7 apart from the app store and that most things that install on 7 also install on 8. I personally prefer Windows 7.

I don't think I have enough space on my Asus 701eeePC for an upgrade to 8. I just managed to scrape 7 onto my 8 GB SSD. I had to delete the hibernate file and use Wise Cleaner to trim to get about 1.5 GB free space back.

I was wondering has anyone tried installing the Intel 910/915 on 7 and then tried an upgrade install to 8, maybe it would keep the driver - as the best driver is already installed - and the support 7 has for XPDM drivers. I was also wondering what the upgrade assistant says ?
