Windows 8.1 Does not Charge PS3 Controller

Since I updated to Windows 8.1 I cannot get my PC to charge my controller. Is there anyway to get the driver I need to enable my PC to do this again?

I don't think that's a driver issue? Charging via the USB port isn't driver dependent. If the PC is on there should be +5V on the USB port.

It actually is driver dependent. I was always able to charge from my PC and play the PS3 at the same time and I've had this PC since Vista came out. It worked all the way up until Windows 8. When I installed Windows 8.1, it doesn't charge anymore. I downloaded a program that enables the charging, but it also enables it as a controller for Windows and disconnects it from the PS3, so I can't use that.

Does my what still charge? My PC's will charge whatever I plug into a USB port it that's what you mean. Like I said a USB port supplies +5V and up to 500MA. If I plug my MP3 player in it charges.

Do you have an official dualshock 3 controller and does Windows 8.1 charge it? Because like I've said, my PC has ALWAYS charged mine, until I updated to Windows 8.1. It still charges everything else that I plug into it and it charges when I install that software that makes the DualShock 3 compatible with Windows, but it disconnects it from the PS3.

Go to your Device Manager and then to your Human Interface Devices section before plugging in your PS3 controller. Then plug in your PS3 controller and you will see "HID-compliant game controller" and "HID-compliant wireless radio controls" be updated to your Human Interface Devices section. Right click and disable "HID-compliant game controller" then unplug and replug in your PS3 controller and it should charge fine.
