David, you are a genius. Thanks and it works well for me too and I have no need to power up my FAT PS3 with 100 Watt power consumption to charge my little controller. Saved the planet!

    Interesting.

How do you guys see how much charge there is? Is the only way on PS3, or is there some way to tell on the PC?

Also, do the blinking lights indicate a charge, or something else?

My suggestion is microsoft team should overcome this issue in their next update (maybe)...

Bcoz you can't using the controller normally in pc/laptop.

Go to your Device Manager and then to your Human Interface Devices section before plugging in your PS3 controller. Then plug in your PS3 controller and you will see "HID-compliant game controller" and "HID-compliant wireless radio controls" be updated to your Human Interface Devices section. Right click and disable "HID-compliant game controller" then unplug and replug in your PS3 controller and it should charge fine.

I'm testing using virtual environment (guest as Win 7) in win 8.1, and it fits (charge and playing games) flawlessly without having doing anything (disable)...

btw, u've saved the day man... "thumbs up!"

Try deleting the drivers from device manager if theyre still showing, then try SLIMDRIVERS program to find and install the game controller drivers.

Slimdrivers is free, and works very well... Just uncheck start with windows option unless you want to keep checking for most current drivers, i usually just update drivers when they have problems and not otherwise..

I did this and now it's charging, but it isn't being detected by Better DS3. I think I've got the MotioninJoy 7.100000 drivers installed. Know any way to fix this?

Hey, I use SCP server instead of those, if you search for it, you can find it easily. If you use the wireless version (I guess you do), then use first the SCP driver, and then the SCP server to connect, it works like charm for me
