Clicking noise, monitor says no signal

    Specs: Gpu: GTS 450 CPU: Athlon 975 3.6 BE Hdd: WD1002FAEX 1tb Ram: corsair vengeance 4x2 600w psu Windows 8.1 64b

Okay so today my PC was working totally fine until I decided to finally put risers on my motherboard (also known as standoffs).

I had to remove everything and put it back together. Everything is seated firmly as can be now though.

When I turn on my PC all of the fans spin and all seems well. No beeps, etc. however, I believe the hard drive is making some sort of click noise. I extensively pinpointed it to there.

I can't tell if the OS is booting up since I don't know how to produce a noise without seeing anything.

I took out the CMOS battery but no fix. I reseated all components, firmly pushed in cables.

I will try booting without HDD in about 10 minutes. I'm trying some things.

I tried 2 different monitors and dvi slots.

EDIT: Put everything back together and it works now. I .. don't know what went wrong. But it works now. A stressful day that was.

No I do not, it's as if nothing is plugged in.

Do you have another HD you could use to boot off of? Use the process of elimination.

I do. I will try booting without my HDD to see if it still clicks, attempt to boot with another HDD as well and if that fails ill have to put my allegedly clicky HDD in my other PC. Will post results.

Update: completely unplugged HDD from PC. did not hear any clicking after that, even waited a minute or two!

plugged HDD into my other PC, I'm currently on it actually. I don't hear any clicking, but I can click through all of my files. played a video, in fact.

What the heck could be wrong? Is my GPU just faulty now? again, ALL of the fans in the case are spinning! I'm going to have to take the PSU out of my PC and plug it into my other PC since this one doesn't have a freakin PCI-E cord and then try the GPU on here. What a hassle!

I just plugged my PSU into this PC along with the graphics card but it did not turn on at all for some reason. Put it back into my PC but now it won't turn on at all. It turns on for a split second then turns off..

My problem has just been amplified, and I don't know if anyone here can help me anymore.. I don't know what to do.

I'm going to sleep now, I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Sounds like a either a short somewhere on your Mobo or perhaps it's been twisted and is bowing due to the risers...

It's only happened since you put the risers in....have you screwed them board down too hard , try releasing the screws a little.

Sorry to read/hear you're having so many problems, Death.

My girlfriend of a year just left me, but somehow I think this would be worse!

    Thanks for joining in, Wullail.

My first thoughts was a cracked board. Hopefully not, but I would inspect that while out. I know it's a PITA, but I'd say to start over.

I'm sure you're doing it by the book, but I have to ask. You're protecting from static electricity, right?

I'm going to completely put everything back together, thanks for the tip. But I don't know if it's the risers because before I messed with it more it actually booted up perfectly. Very weird problem.
