Solved Error code 10 ? USB to port com RS 232

I installed PL2303_Prolific driver for mu USB to port com RS232 the installation done normaly but
I got the error code 10 !
The cable is fine I tried it in another pc with Windows XP
I need help plz

Im looking for USB to port com RS232 driver for Windows 8.1

As I noted in another thread, I've had problems with these devices. My wife has a Singer Embroidery machine with an RS232 interface to transfer patterns to the machine. I've only found one USB/RS232 that works and even that only works with some motherboards and not all Operating Systems. I had an old Dell (E510) and it worked OK with that PC and Vista. I had another PC with an Intel motherboard (DP35DP) and Win 7 and the USB/RS232 would not work (at least the Embroidery machine would not) with that system. I replaced the Dell with a new home built system using an ASRock Z77 motherboard and Win 7 and it would not work with that system. The ASRock motherboard died (within return to where I bought it time frame) and I replaced it with an ASUS Z77 motherboard and the interface would install in both Win 7 and Win 8 (I haven't tried 8.1 on that system) but due to the old interface program Singer supplied, which has to run in Win 98 compatibility mode it will not run on Win 8.

I would suggest trying to install the driver for the converter in a Win 7 compatibility mode and see if that helps.

I've had sporadic results with any USB converter.

I tried the virtual machine (windows 8) and it worked fine , Im waiting the Windows 8.1 driver hehe

As fireberd has mentioned, USB to RS-232 converters are convenient, but I've also had issues with them. I just decided to buy an RS-232 PCI board instead, and it's been working flawlessly. I fried countless adapters trying to upload code to my Crestron processors however.
