    Cannot safely eject SD card?

Recently when I tried to eject SD card it always says something is still using it. But there is no program running that's using it as far as I can tell.

I tried several things, no help:
    1. Turn off AutoPlay in Control Panel
    2. OpenedFilesView - View opened/locked files in your system (sharing violation issues) but it asked for something like "test driver signed mode" and restarting so I didn't continue
    3. gpedit.msc but Win 8 can't find it
    4. Kill explorer and start it again

Then I found if I go to explorer, right click the drive, then click Eject, that worked.

I also tried inserting the SD card, then immediately asking for safe removal, Windows says something is using it.

    What's going on?

Go into device manager and check to see if you have this option set to disable write caching. If so, please read the associated description. If not, set it and see what happens. If already set, just plug in and unplug without asking for permission.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.
