External hard drive causes blue screen [MEMORY_MANAGEMENT]

Hi I just started using VAIO windows 8 for 2 days, and have been using Sony external hard drive HD-E1 for a year+ now.
Right after I keyed in my password for the 'Password protection manager' on my hard drive and press enter, my laptop went blue screen telling me to find out more about 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT'
I have the same issue on any other windows 8 laptop, but it still works perfectly fine on my old windows 7.
I've tried going to the password protection manager file --> properties --> compatibility --> 'run this program in compatibility mode for windows 7', and i cannot find windows 8.
So i'm guessing this external hard drive is not compatible for windows 8? Is there any way i can make it usable for my windows 8?

Really appreciate any help!

Hi.... I had exactly the same problem with the same hard drive.....looked here and there for a solution but couldn't find one. At last managed to find one on my own.....JUST UPDATE THE PASSWORD PROTECTION MANAGER....

and then connect to the computer running windows 8.....DONE!

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but if you're still around, may I ask how you managed to successfully update the Password Protection Manager? As I couldn't seem to locate the appropriate setup files on my drive, I went ahead and downloaded the latest Password Protection Manager software from Sony. Unfortunately, that (updated) setup file doesn't appear to give me the option to Update, only to Install (which would format my drive, something I'd very like to avoid). If you've any insight into the matter, I'd certainly appreciate it!

Regardless, thanks for your time!
