Yes I ran the troubleshoot compatibility now and it picked windows xp and finished the whole installation but it never applied the driver to the video card, it still says Microsoft Basic Adapter.

Hello,

I dig out this thread because I have the same problem. My laptop Dell D620 with windows 8 64bits and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M graphic card. I don't found the right driver. The link above don't work.
I tried to install the Vista 64 bits driver, but my screen became blank, I had to reinstall the system. I'm afraid to test with w7 drivers, I think I'm having the same problem.
NVIDIA provide windows 8 driver for NVS 350M, do you think that will be good even for NVS 110M??
What other type of driver can I install???

Thank you for your advise.

Welcome to the forums!

I provided a link to the NVidia site and the latest driver is for Win7:

64bit:
NVIDIA DRIVERS 179.48BETA

32bit
NVIDIA DRIVERS 179.48BETA

Get the one that matches os architecture and extract it if the installer fails.
Extract it with 7-Zip to a folder and then manually install it (update the basic graphics adapter with the new driver from folder) through Device Manager.

Good luck

Hi romain,

I have the same computer and this driver does indeed work (thanks, sudohost)!

You should be able to get to the driver here:

LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers

The download link is at the bottom of that page.

Additional Note: I tried the 179.48 driver and it did NOT work.

Those are modified in the inf to make them compatible with older machines.
Good site.

Additional Note: I tried the 179.48 driver and it did NOT work.

Thanks for confirming.
Have you tried the extraction and Device Manager install as mentioned?
The setup might fail.

Good to go with the first link if it worked. The 179.48 is a beta and probably not WHQL, I didn't checked that but it can pose problems. Anyway I recommend the most recent one and of course use one that works is best.

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your reply
So, I downloaded the 179.68 driver and started the setup. I get a error message like " the setup had detected that the system is not windows vista 32 bit/7 64 bit. This setup and his driver are designed to work with windows vista 32 bit/7 64 bit. Installation aborted."

Do you have a 64 bit system?? And Windows 8 pro??

Thank you.

That was expected. You can however try extracting it:

Unfortunately don't work. When I try to install, I have the followinf message " The best driver for your card is already installed. Windows was determinated that the driver for your card is updated. Basic microsoft video card"

I don't know what I can do.
Any new ideas is really welcome.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for trying.

That means is not compatible with W8.
Then you'll have to try the method and the driver larryfloyd and others got working from the other site.

OMG I almost gave up before coming across this thread. For those who this did not work for, here are the steps.

  1. Download the Driver
  2. Install and note the directory which it is installed
  3. Open your display settings
  4. Go to the Advanced Properties
  5. Update the driver for the graphics card, pick "browse my computer"
  6. Select the folder you noted in step 2

Much appreciation for this. You prevented 1 laptop from the sledgehammer treatment today.
