I just upgraded my computer using Windows 8 OS and My Canon CanoScan lide 60 scanner will not work. I initially got the message, "can't find the twain source" and after I added the path to the twain directory to the environmental varibles, I get the message, "cannot select the twain source". I have uninstalled the scanner and reinstalled it but no change. Please advise what to do.

Do you have the proper drivers installed for it?

What deaconsoft said , which drivers do you have for the scanner , I notice from the web site they don't have any drivers for use with Windows 8

Hello Deaconfrost and Wullail,
I got confused with your replies because as I was reading and trying to proceed, some how I got involved with a site and software from LionSeaSofware co., LTD and the program DriverTuner Setup 3.5.0.0. Before I realized it, I had downloaded it thinking I was following your advise. I did install it but did not allow it to do anything because it asked for a credit card number to download drivers, etc. I then uninstalled the program. Please advise if this program is legitimate and is this what I should use to check if my drivers are up to date?

I don't ever recommend a program for finding drivers. I wouldn't trust them at all, especially not for doing something that's a simple task anyway.

That being said, you should check with the manufacturer of the scanner. They will have drivers available on their website (if they exist). It sounds like, in this case, no drivers exist on Canon's website. That means one of two things. Either the drivers are available through Windows Update, or they don't exist. If they don't exist, you'll have to Google your scanner and Windows 8 to see if anyone else has gotten the scanner to work. It's possible someone has, but also possible that your scanner isn't compatible, which is something you should have checked for before upgrading to a new OS.

If there are drivers for Win Vista or Win7 try to use them, in a lot of cases drivers for those systems work.

Go to the Canon website. Put your camera's model etc where asked and when you camera is identified, you would see if there is a download available. If so, see if it is just drivers or firmware and drivers.
If no luck, use Win 7 if the camera worked there.
