Windows 8 Advanced Startup - Not Recognizing Keyboard

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 USB keyboard. When I restart Windows 8 using Advanced Startup Mode I get the familiar menu where you have to enter F1-F9 to select an option (or F10 for more options). My keyboard doesn't work, however. I tried pressing all of the F-keys but none of them are recognized.

I am pretty sure it's not a BIOS issue because whenever I do a cold boot I can get into the BIOS by pressing the DEL key so I know the keyboard is recognized by my system.

Any ideas as to why I can't use my keyboard in Windows 8 Advanced Startup?

    Thank you.

Try pressing regular numbers instead of F-key numbers.

Instead of F-4 just press the number 4.

That won't work with F-10 since there is no 10 on the keyboard.

In BIOS have you enabled Boot Menu & pressed F-12 at startup ?

    Post back with results.

    EDIT---

If you get F-12 at restart to work & get this:

    Choose UEFI & proceed.
