Anyone know how to get Dell's Integrated webcam to work? I have drivers install apparently (according to device manager), yet I'm unable to access the webcam.

Any ideas I'm open to trying!

Thought I would add this screen shot as well. Hoping someone knows how to fix this!

I would like to point out that I do have the driver installed for the camera, but I can not load the camera with Dell's software, but if I go to website like chatroulette then the camera loads.

Are you using the driver from Microsoft? If it was installed before you installed the software, you might have to update the driver with the Dell driver since the software will probably only work with that driver.

I'm running M3 8102, I have also updated the driver from dell. Still no luck, only reason I use my webcam is for my niece and nephew to play with to be honest, lol. Just would be nice for it all to work.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 17r with the same problem since installing Windows 8.1. I have contacted Dell and there response is there are no drivers for the web cam because it uses Microsoft generic drivers. They suggested re-installing Windows which I have done now twice to no avail. When I look in device manager what I assume is the camera shows up as Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed) which has been the case since 8.1 was installed. The camera had worked fine until that point. This is a common complaint on the forums and tech sites.

Try something like this to see if it works. There are probably hundreds of other free applications you can find that can use your camera.

MyCam - Webcam snapshot, recording and management

If it doesn't work, do this:

Right click that USB entry. Choose Properties. Go to Details tab. Change the dropdown to say "Hardware Ids" then copy/paste the results shown below to a new post here.

Ctrl + A = selects all
Ctrl + C = copy
Ctrl + V = paste
