I still don't see the Driver tab displayed. Hardware IDs are not displayed either, so you may need to read my instructions more carefully. I don't care for image resolution, as long as I see what I asked for :)

Meanwhile, there should be an option to turn off Elan touchpad in Mouse settings. Show them to us.

If you haven't installed ELAN touchpad driver from the Gateway page, do it before showing the requested screenshots.

Clicking that "disable" box makes it say that the mouse is disabled, but it's not. Nothing changes.

All right, you've got the latest ELAN driver, but it doesn't look like it's detecting your touchpad properly. At least, there's no indication that it's a touchpad in the device manager and ELAN settings. This is something to address to Gateway technical support, actually.

Perhaps, other forum members will produce better ideas, but at this point I have nothing to offer except for the workaround that prevents device installation. It's reversible, meaning you'd have clear the restriction every time you install a new device. Therefore, I'd recommend plugging in all your home USB devices before using the workaround, so their drivers get installed before you disable installation.

    Oops.

On a random piece of paper from the packing, I just saw, in fairly large type, "You can turn the touchpad on/off by pressing the f6 key."

It even worked. I am (marginally) glad we did this thread, because it showed me some things I was supposed to know. Thanks for your effort.

I'm glad you've figured it out. Shows that reading manuals is indeed helpful

Please mark the thread as solved.
