Bought this webcam today from Argos. Tried windows 8 and 7 drivers from microsoft site on my 64 bit Windows 8 (8gb) ram. windows 7 driver installs lifecam programme, but either way, no web cam is detected in either version.

Hello Pepsimax, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You'll need to only install the Windows 8 drivers for it instead. Try uninstalling all drivers, and reinstalling only the Windows 8 version. Was it the LifeCam 4.2 version you installed at the Microsoft link below?
You might see if connecting the LifeCam HD-3000 to a different USB port may work better. For example, a USB port directly on the motherboard back panel.

If you open Device Manager from :winkey: + X, does it have your LifeCam HD-3000 listed under Imaging devices?

It doesn't appear on the Camera panel either. The drivers seem to work (and yes from the links you mentioneD) as it does indeed appear as an Imaging Device in Device Manager, albeit as a Hidden device. I think it might be a hardware problem, even though I only bought the cam yesterday.

If it is appearing only when you view hidden devices, then it is a profile that was created when the device was detectable; however, if it is greyed-out, it is an inactive profile. Try uninstalling that inactive profile via right-click and see if a new active profile gets created.

Hello
I have LifeCam HD 3000 connected to Windows 8.1 PC, I've installed the driver (version 4.25.531.0) from Windows Update, but uninstalled Webcam Software, because I couldn't find the way to open it.
However I am able to change the settings for LifeCam HD 3000 in Skype

LifeCam_Skype.png

There I always uncheck "Auto White Balance" but whenever my PC is powered off, these settings are lost and next time I power up and start the PC "Auto White Balance" is checked in settings, so the changes that I make to the settings in Skype are kept only while USB port webcam is plugged in is powered on (changes are kept if I just restart the PC without powering it off). Can anyone give an explanation to this? Thanks.
