Seems like, ever since I upgraded to 8.1, my mouse goes to sleep along with my hard drives when my PC is not in use. Let me elaborate.
I use like 3 computers on a kvm switch. Prior to upgrade, I just set my Windows 8 machine to never ever sleep/hibernate, and I have replicated this setting after upgrading to 8.1. What this allowed me to do, was switch to the Windows 8 machine on my kvm, wiggle the mouse a little, and the screen would typically pop up right away (though monitor would sleep after 20 min). Now, whenever I switch to the windows 8 machine, even if the screen is not black (ie monitor is not yet sleeping), I typically have to wait for about 20-30 seconds for my mouse to wake up. Not every time actually, just every time I am switching back to the machine after at least say a 10 minute period of no use. I think this has something to do with power settings, and usb devices set to go to sleep after a period of un-use. I am great with this function extending to my external usb hard drives, and do not want to disable this function on those, but under power settings, it would seem to be an all or nothing option.. HI definitely do not want my usb mouse to ever go to sleep if possible, and in the past, this was never a problem.
Is there a way to enable just the mouse in power settings, or am I completely on the wrong track with this all together? Any help appreciated!!
