Windows keeps warning me that I should scan my drive.

I have a Windows 8 Toshiba Satellite S855-S5377 laptop. My problem is that I get notified all the time by the Windows Action Center that I should scan my drive for errors even though I already have multiple times. I've already opened the command prompt and typed chkdsk /f /r and did the scan on boot up. I checked the log with the Computer Management Console and didn't find any problems with the hard drive. I also have used other HDD error checking tools and have even used the error checking utility of Windows when you right click the drive choose properties then tools. And every time the PC or the program says my drive is fine but the Action Center warning message doesn't go away. I know I can turn it off but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Is there any other way to see what my problem is? Perhaps something I missed? I want to make sure my drive is fine. I'd be thankful for any suggestions.

Sounds like your HD might be OK (based on your repair efforts) but just to be sure, can you post a screenshot of that warning? Other thoughts: Might try a full AV or malware scan (could be a false warning). Boot-time scan preferred (if available).

This is the message that keeps showing up even though I already did a scan multiple times. Also when I click "scan drive for errors" it doesn't do anything.

OK, lets take a peek at your SMART data. Download CrystalDiskInfo (Shizuku Edition zip) and run it on your hard drive. This will help to further decide if you are having any issues. It should work on SSDs and most modern hard drives that support SMART:

I assume you still intend to do a full AV or malware scan if you have not done so already; yes?

I also found this Microsoft article interesting and also supports the need to do a full AV or malware scan if no hard drive issues can be definitely identified:

    ,
Thanks I ran the sfc /scannow command and it supposedly found errors. It will fix them in the next reboot. Let's see if that works...

JustATest Thanks for the reply! So I ran the CrystalDiskInfo (Shizuku Edition zip) and this is what I got:

And yes, I plan to do a full malware scan to see if it is a false error. I suppose that after the malware scan finishes, if the same notification still shows up then I will just hide it permanently because by the looks of it I don't have any hard drive problem right now.

Based on all that you have done, I see no evidence of any hard drive issues. Also, I'll be delightfully surprised if the sfc /scannow fixes your issue. With that said, I have to ask the following questions:

Were you infected with malware recently?
If so, how did you remove it?
If not, what are you using to scan for malware (and can it do a boot-time scan)?

If nothing has worked so far, I wouldn't opt to just hide it and BTW, how would you be able to do that? Now, if you get the message from the Action Center directly, and you can hide it that way, then maybe you really do have a hardware issue that is yet to be discovered or maybe it might be time for Dave's DISM Dazzler solution? I'll let David Bailey explain further after you report the results of your sfc /scannow attempt..

So the sfc /scannow command didn't fix the issue and no, my PC has not been infected by any malware recently that I know of. I'm using Advanced SystemCare Ultimate 6 to scan my computer for malware and I think it doesn't have the option to do boot-time scan. As for how I am able to hide the message well I can't hide that single message only, rather, I just turn off all notifications about the drive in the Windows Action Center by clicking the "Turn off messages about Drive status" option.

And sorry for my ignorance but what did you mean by use the Dave's DISM Dazzler solution?

Do you get that message at random times or do you get it mostly at startup? The reason I ask is because your drive was listed as Good but not 100% Good (like mine). So, I took a second look and I did see that you have had "60 spinup retrys" which means you drive may be slow spinning up at times. Also, I could not see the rest of your SMART data because of the scroll windows so there may be more to see. If you would like to resubmit that view (with scroll further down) I could take a peek but I'm starting to think there may be something legitimate here; especially if it appears right after boot (most often).
