I guess I should not have used my nickname for his fix. I apologize for that so please ignore it and I apologize to David Bailey as well. Just forget I even mentioned a fix in those terms. I was just trying to have a little fun but nobody's laughing...

Oh my, nevermind on that retry count thing. I just looked again and that's a threshold setting; not an actual failure count. Maybe David Bailey can jump in and take it from here. I have to hit the sack. Goodnight.

    Hello,

    Try running--

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    in administrator command prompt.
    Then reboot.
    Then run sfc again.
The problems with sfc will go away.....

I had the same problem, with frequent warnings to scan for errors. On my system it turns out that there was in fact disk corruption but not in the obvious place -- the C: drive -- but in a USB flash drive I've dedicated to ReadyBoost. I figured this out by scanning the event log and noticed that the disk warnings referred to the I: drive (my flash drive). I did a manual CHKDSK /F on that drive and haven't had an error since. I appears that Windows 10 is smart enough to detect disk corruption but not smart enough to run repairs on the corrupt, non-C: drive.

I hope this helps you. It's great not to have to worry about daily disk error warnings!

Does anyone know how to change the red warning indicator on free space in Explorer? I have over 300 GB of free space on a 4TB backup drive and I see that. I'd like to be able to change it to warn when I have, say, 500MB left. 48884 EDIT: I believe it is hard-coded to warn at 10% free, but...
Quick scan & Full scan in System Security
As a practice if a Quick scan detects something I fix it & then run a Full scan & a boot time scan. Avast just detected 1 infection. When the scan is complete I will fix it & do as I stated above. I really should run scans more often, as should everyone. 46771
