    Scanning and repairing drive freeze

    Hi,
I`ve got HP Envy Phoenix H9-1400ec with W8 64bit. Can`t boot it, I`ve tried restarting and all that during the scanning and repairing process, but it`s just frozen on 1% for quite a few hours already(I just let it run in case some miracle happens...) I`d appreciate any help or advice. Thanks a lot!

    You can't boot
    Restart don't work
What scanning and repairing process doesn't work?

I think you would be better served if you start with what happened that prompted you to do a repair and what you have done specifically to try and repair this issue thus far. Please explain in detail.

There was actually nothing I did to start the repair. Yesterday evening I started my pc and "Scanning and repairing drive (C: 1% complete" thing popped up. For first time I let it run for couple of hours but when I saw it's still at 1% I shut down the PC by holding the power button for a specific time for it to work and then tried to start it again (with hope it would work normally). Naturally, same thing showed up and I let it like this until now. That's the whole thread. Sorry for being inaccurate.

Your second post does explain your situation more clearly. Is your hard drive making any clicking or clunking sounds? Does it sound louder than normal?

Do you have a repair disk or original installation disk? If so, can you try and boot from your CD/DVD drive and select the repair option? Also, can you afford to lose all data that is resident on your PC? If so, you could also consider attempting a clean install but if your hard drive (failing) is the root cause, that option may not work.

Since the PC came with windows preinstalled I do not own the disc. Not sure I can afford losing all the data on PC, but if there would be no choice, what could I do.

If you can't afford to lose the data (I can certainly understand) then I'm going to stop here and (hopefully) pass this on to someone else. I really suspect your hard drive may be failing but I could be wrong and hopefully someone else can assist you further. Good luck.
