So I have this Surface Pro as a loaner from MS to use at my seminars, but the back of it is real hot to the touch, much hotter tan I would think, those of you who have the surface pro do you find it gets real hot?

Mine does not seem to get hot at all, not really even warm. The only time I ever felt it hot was once when it accidentally turned on while the type cover was folded over it and it was inside of my laptop bag.

Hi there
I was lucky enough to try one of these at a recent seminar -- and it didn't seem to get hot to me -- it got very slightly warm after about 7 hours - was left on all day -- nothing at all a problem there.

Might be something to do with your mains power unit -- mine is a universal 110-240 50 / 60 HZ one - if the power unit is really cheap and nasty this sort of thing can happen as the "Smoothing" (AC -->DC conversion in the unit) isn't good or the converted DC voltage might be at the HIGH end of the "tolerance" range.

Also ensure you haven't placed it on any material like cushions etc. Allow plenty of airflow for cooling.

Cheers
jimbo

LOL. it'd be funny if the builds that fail QA and thus were unsuitable for retail were then used for demo units... :p

What did they do? Did you get another tablet?
Mine gets hot to the touch and I was worried. I looked up on the Internet about this issue and found its normal operating temperature.
I tried using a thermometer and get 90 F on top and 92 F on the bottom.
I then found a software that gives the Internal temperature of the CPU.
Min 117 F, Max 154 F, presently 118 F.

Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring

Please let me know what temperature you get.
If others read this and down load the software it would be nice to get a comparison of others.

I live in PR and the climate is warm, 85 - 95 F

Try changing the battery settings from "high performance" to balanced...
Sometimes it helps ...sometimes it doesn't lol...
Mine gets hot to...I gotta turn it off before putting it in a bag...
