Motherboard Advice Needed

As it stands

I only use 1 GPU maybe 2 if i plan to upgrade

I have a FX 8350 watercooled

what motherboard should i get to save money for when i upgrade

990X or 990FX

990FX gets my vote...more expensive but it allows you to SLI or Crossfire in X16 mode vs 990X in SLI/Crossfire in X8 mode, from what I've read.

Short version: the 990FX has 38 PCI-E lanes, while the 990X has 22. The 990FX would support the full X16 bandwidth for two graphics cards, while the 990X only has enough lanes to support two X8 connections. (That's probably not very significant in practice.)

Interesting. AMD makes PCI-E 3 graphics cards, but no PCI-E 3 motherboards? (I've been out of touch with AMD since the Socket 939 days.)

Check this Asus board. It has the new PCIe 3.0 and can run two slots at x16. And has the AM3+ CPU socket for your FX 8350.
