Hi,

I have an Acer 5750g 8gb of ram i5 core laptop and it has always had like a 'clicking' sound to it. After reading up i read that many people get this from their hard drives in a suspend or hibernate state and it is just the hard drive making this noise and not to worry about but the noise can be quite annoying.
I also downloaded a programe called quiteHDD for this and it has stopped the 'clicking' noise.

Has anyone else noticed a 'Clicking' noise from their hard drives? What is this?
and also has anyone downloaded quietHDD? and is it safe to use?
The reason i ask as my Mcafee did detect a virus when i opened the zip
file it comes in but i have used the programe and works ok for me.

quiethdd - quietHDD modifies the APM and AAM settings of Harddrives on startup, suspend, hibernate and tries to reduce noise - Google Project Hosting

goto the link and select downloads and works with all versions of Windows

Ty Andy :)

It should not click, older drives used to click because it was parking the heads when powering down..

Does it do it constantly? or just when its shutting down?
