Is it just me, or is Win 8 right click touch a bit crap?

    Hi,

Ok only a baby in terms of Win 8 usage, but I have been playing with my new Acer Iconia Tab for the past two weeks and I have found that I continually need to use the keyboard mouse buttons for right click options. E.g. In file explorer I have selected my many files but want to go to options for open with, if I try the hold and down touch option nothing happens or more likely it trys to move or copy the files to a new location. It just feels like it is not easy to get to these options anymore with touch.

Am I doing something very wrong or is accessing classic right click menus a struggle with touch screen.

    Comments welcome.

My experience with right click on touch hasn't been great. It's been reliable on the Surface Pro, but only when using the pen (stylus) which has a right click physical button on it.

You're pressing and holding down for a couple of seconds to show the context menu, correct?

There are a couple of options to change with that. One is to use the Ribbon more as right clicking and hitting Open with... isn't really a nice way of doing it when the Ribbon has it right there in a tap.

You can also go to the Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, and then under Display; there is a drop down setting of menu where you can change the actual size of the context menu to be better with touching with a finger. I think setting it to 11 was decent.

There is also overall DPI settings you can change as well.

Thanks, not thought about the ribbon, will have a look at that again, and your config tips are useful.

    Thanks

I also believe there is a touch setting in the Control Panel you can change to make the right clicking a tad quicker when you press and hold. If you go to Start, I think you can type in touch, hit Settings and you should get a few entries there.
