So they say i can access the Recovery Menu if ASUS to reset the computer to standard through the F9 Button at startup, but the only thing that comes up is the Turn Off, Advanced Options and Continue to Windows 8 option, as it normally should when pressing F8. I want the Recovery, it is also described at the website, that it is included, and i also see the RECOVERY drive in the Drive Manager. But no chance to access it. And the Customer Support is only as allways for US, China and Korea, just as they think people somewhere else dont need help. IM ABOUT TO RAGE WHEN I SEE SUCH! I go to my country website, and it loads for my country, but then i go to Support and it loads US, and since im not in the US, it just doesnt continue! I HATE THIS! **** THEM! IM ABOUT TO GO BACK TO THE STORE AND DEMAND FULL MONEY BACK FOR BAD SUPPORT AND NOT KEEPING PROMISSES SUCH AS THE RECOVERY PARTITION THAT IS NOT WORKING CAUSE OF WINDOWS 8! SORRY FOR CAPS, BUT I THINK THIS PC WONT EXIST IN 20 MINUTES! BAD SUPPORT, JUST AS THEY THINK, PEOPLE ONLY LIVE IN CHINA, KOREA AND USA, AND THE REST DONT NEED HELP, NO KEEPING OF PROMISSES, AGAIN SORRY.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Plus: Now i tested as many said to go to F9, Advanced Options, Reset PC. Then it asks for Recovery Media. I dont have one. I bought the PC with Windows 8. No DVD followed. Then they give it to me, since Recovery is promissed, one way is not working, then the other, but that isnt working to. THEY PAY THE ****ING WINDOWS 8 DVD FOR ME SO I CAN RECOVER OR I WANT DOUBLE CASH BACK! Sorry guys but i cant keep myself under control anymore. Now im done. 2 Ways: 1: They tell me how to start the Recovery Tool, Partition or what ever. 2: They give me the Windows 8 Install Media. Only 2 Options. 3rd alternative option is to demand Double Cash back, cause of: Not keeping Promisses, Bad Support and No Reset Option in case of Need.

It seems asus forgot to include the recovery software and wants you to download it after your system stops working?!?!?!

http://www.eightforums.com/installation-setup/21897-new-asus-laptop-has-no-recovery-disk-utlity.html

If you cant resolve the issue with the above link, i suggest returning it for a full refund, if that is not an option, then ask asus to send you a recovery disk at NO cost to you or you will return the equipment for a refund and see what they offer..
They will probably say to download it though.. But its worth a try..

Ya i did never even touch the Recovery Partition, since i do know how important it is.

Yes that is exactly that. They did not include the Recovery Utility in Windows 8, cause of limitations ive heard. But then they have to make sure to fix that in another way, i think.

The whole problem comes with that, i dont want a Windows 8 Recovery, but an Original ASUS Recovery Utility, since that is why i bought an ASUS PC. I had one before with Recovery, and it saved me alot of times. I just want the ASUS Recovery, since in the Recovery Partition, is everything setup allready with Drivers and such, and if i use the Windows 8 Recovery, its not Original with Drivers anymore.

No why? I dont need to repair the Startup. But anyway, i found the ASUS Backtracker. It works to, problem is, it says i need a USB Drive with over 20GB and i have 64GB. When i try to make a Backup to the USB, it says Create Image Error.

The USB Pen Drive would need to formatted in FAT32 to boot in UEFI mode.

I know I'm late to the party, but here goes:

Windows 8.1 on my daughter's Asus S56CB laptop crashed. I, too, got the "Insert Recovery Media" request when trying to run recovery from the recovery partition, although there was no other installation/recovery media included in the box.

  • On another computer, I downloaded the Windows 8.1 installation ISO (not OEM) from Microsoft and burned to DVD.
  • I booted the laptop, pressed F9, selected ‘Troubleshoot’ and then ‘Reset your PC’.
  • When it prompted "Insert Recovery Media" I inserted the freshly burned Windows 8.1 DVD.
  • Recovery continued as hoped, and the computer was done, up and running in less than an hour.
  • Though the ISO was not OEM, there was no asking for Windows licence key, and everything looked the same as when it was new.

I downloaded the Windows 8.1 installation ISO from Microsoft at this link:
Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

Neither the ASUS user manual nor their support pages were much help at all, and online forums were largely confusing. I finally ended up fixing it by trial and error, and after about five hours my daughter and her laptop were playing happily again. This is almost 2 years after this thread originally started, and I certainly hope Yanniclord got his problem sorted long ago, but I leave this here in case anyone else is looking for a possible simple solution to the same issue.
