TDK USB 16Gb pen drive

Hello there
I hav a 16G TDK pen drive that works on any other PC. I use it as an install stick with Win8 on it. It is very intermittent on my PC(Win 8 64bit). I know all the USB ports are working as I have tested them, check dev manager etc. Sometimes Ill put it in it shows (rare). I am at a loss

When you insert it does windows say found new hardware, installing drivers, install sucessful?

Have you rebooted the system? (some people never turn off their PC thats why I ask)

does disk management see it?
