Keyboards do go bad. I just had a new keyboard go bad after 1 week.

Either get another keyboard, even a cheap one just for testing.

You should have noted that on your initial post.

Is the keyboard connected directly to a port on the PC or is it connected to a USB Hub? If not connected directly to a port on the PC (rear port on a Desktop) try that. Or try a different USB port and see if still does it.

Are there any error codes in the Device Manager? Either for the keyboard or USB?

Since this is a desktop (that's all we know about your hardware), have you tried a front USB port?

If there are motherboard chipset drivers, reinstall them and see if that helps.

Sometimes hardware come with defective drivers so no matter how many times you reinstall it the problem remains.
Right click (computer) click (properties) click (device Manager) click (keyboard) click your keyboard and uninstall it.
If you are given the option to delete the driver files as well, then choose yes.
See if your KB still works, if it does leave it like that and download the drivers from the manufacturer and install them.
If the KB is no longer working then click (action) from the device manager where you just were and click (scan for changes)
If it wants you to reboot, then reboot..

Good Luck

Brooklyn!
