1st time notebook user question

I've only used desktop pc's since 1996. I'm getting a used notebook Friday and have a question about notebook's. Once the battery is charged , should I remove it when I'm using it while it's plugged into a electrical outlet at home ?

I never do, but then I'm on AC power all day long at work, and usually on battery power every night when at home. So, my battery does get used on a daily basis.

With many new Ultrabook style notebooks, you cannot even remove the battery without disassembling the laptop...so clearly the mfg's don't expect people to have the battery removed when fully charged.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. But, you seem to be asking if you should remove the battery while it's plugged in. :huh: If that is your question, the answer is, no. I would certainly unplug it first. But, I can see no reason for removing the battery unless you are not going to use the computer for a long period of time.

I meant after the battery was charged, but while using it at home, etc. while using it's ac adaptor instead of the battery for power. See I'll really only use the battery for it for power maybe once a month.I'm disabled and can't work. I'm only getting the notebook because Idon't have a choice. I have a specific medication which Ineed to use special medical software to hook a device Iuse to hook to a pc and print a report for Medicare. Without the report, no way to get the med's. I'll be waiting for my case from Corsair, which has faulty front i/o panel wiring to go through their rma process. Thus getting a working case back. All the desktop part's work out of the Corsair case.Ineed the med's by next Monday ang getting the cheap notebook will accomplish it.

You don't need to remove the battery while using the notebook eventhough it's fully charged. But make sure to pullout the AC power cable when you turn off the laptop.

I have used my notebook without the battery and just used my power cable plugged into an outlet. I had no problem using it this way. As far as I know you really do not need the battery if you are near a power source. Good luck with your medical condition. We hope things goes well for you.

Actually,it isn't my medical condition that Ilet worry me. It's more of the government red tape b.s. See Medicare is setup for type 2 diabetes. Not type 1 like I have. Big difference between the 2 types. Type 2 can be treated with diet/exercise, pills/diet/exercise or pills/insulin/diet/exercise. Type 1 you need insulin/diet/exercise from day 1 for life. Type 2 if on medication, can live day's without it. Type 1 can only go a few hours without insulin, then a coma happens. The red tape is getting medically necessary meds, devices, etc. for treatment.
