I seem to have made some progress, I can now access my iPhone's photos...
1) Open "Device Manager"
2) Uninstall "Apple Mobile Device Manager" in "USB" section, including installation files(make sure the device is disconnected before hand)
3) Re-connect device

To note, I've also installed iTunes 10.5 beta 7 x64, however, Syncing to no avail.

Ok, so I have come up with a way to get my iPod touch 4G (iOS 5 b7) to sync with iTunes 10.5 b7 (This also worked with my iPad):

1) Close iTunes
2) Go to services
3) Stop "Apple Mobile Device"
4) Plug device in, wait for the 1 or 2 chimes
5) Start "Apple Mobile Device"
6) Open iTunes
7) During Sync you might get an "Unable to receive data from sync services", but it still syncs)

Hope this helps :D

iTunes will backfire if it is open when you plug your device in after you stopped the service.

Well it does not work for me, I tried many times from "Services" stop, plug-in, start, open iTunes but no good. If you have any other ways, please post here. Thank you

I can confirm that this issue is due to the lack of Windows Media Player on your N version of Windows.. I have just had this issue with a Windows 8 N 64 bit.. Resolved it by downloading the add on pack from Microsoft for Windows Media Player 12.
I now have my iphone drive back in My Computer so I can take pictures and videos off my phone by dragging and dropping.
Hope this helps some other users who have stumbled across this..
