Is there an internal USB3 card reader that works on W 8 64

Built a new system, all good EXCEPT memory card reader. No big deal, but I have had internal card readers on the last couple of PCs and find them convenient. Ordered a Rosewill RCR IC0001-r, found that id does not work with Win 8 /64. Started asking vendors about compatibility, not finding any solid answers. Does anyone have any info on this??

    Thanks,

    Stan

A lot of times the Windows 7 64 bit driver will work just fine in Windows 8. If you have already tried that then just disregard this post.

The device you mention does not seem to be a USB 3.0 device... Something like a card reader, especially USB 2.0 such as you have should be almost automatic. There may be some bios settings you could check to see if they would help...

Which connectors on the motherboard are you using?

Have tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0 19 pin headers. Per manufacturer, this unit will NOT work on Win 8 /64 even though the instructions say that it will. I have contacted a bunch of manufacturers and NON claim that they have an internal card reader which will work on Win 8 /64. That is why I post the question here, to se if anyone actually has one that works.

Does it have, and did you try the Windows 7 64 bit driver? You may have to install it in compatibility mode.

OK, It was just a thought. I don't use them in my desktop PC's so I can't help you there.

    Thank you anyway.
I believe it is just that the hardware needs to catch up with the software.
Nothing new, I was just trying to see if there was a working unit already on the market.

    Hello,
Pre-built win 8 systems come with internal card reader but I havent check write and read speeds yet. But I think USB 3.0 is useless for card readers as I don't know of any type of card media or memory sticks (except USB flash drives) that can match up to 5 or 6gbps transfer rate of the USB 3.0. The USB 2.0 might be more than enough for card readers.

To be clear, I have a 19 pin USB header on the motherboard that I can use, or I would go with a pci card type if that were the available choice. I have, and use an external card reader, but like the convenience of the internal, assuming I can find one that would work.
