Swiping navigation of IE10 Metro and page refreshing

I recently bought a Windows 8 tablet and I'm forced to use IE10 on it to browse the Internet because everything else is crap. I like the idea how you can swipe to the left and right to go back and forth webpages. But when info that, instead of just loading the page from a cache, the page completely reloads. It doesn't even take me the correct location of the webpage. These issues completely take away the advantage of swipe navigation.

Is there anyway to force IE not to reload the webpage completely when swiping back (don't really care about forward part)? If I could set a time period before reloading the page, that would be ideal.

BTW, It could be more noticeable because this Atom based tablet is much slower than a typical Windows 8 PC. Besides, I don't use IE on the desktop so I don't know how it performs on it. I bet it won't be as noticeable as on the tablet because it is multiple times faster than the tablet and it is connected to he Internet with a cable.

the desktop version if IE10 does have touch support. It's not quite as extensive as the Modern version, but it does support pinch to zoom and other basic touch. you won't be able to swipe to navigate pages but you will have the bar at the top with the forward and back buttons.

Metro version also has the navigation buttons. But swiping is easier on a touch screen. Just that the "whole previous or next pages reloading from the scratch" part is what is driving me insane. Feels like the idea is good, the execution is not. At least on devices slower than Surface Pro.

No, it's just like hitting back or forward in IE, it renders that page again. I'd imagine IE 11 MAY improve that, but no one knows for sure. That would be kind of system intensive I'd imagine....

no, in desktop IE. or Firefox. or Chrome. or any other browser, when you hit the back button, you should see the page instantly loaded from the cache and at the exact spot that you left it. it would drive me mad to have the page reload again (a major problem I see with mobile browsers).

It's almost instantaneous in my sig rig even though it still reloads the page. Seems like most of it is coming from the cache though. Otherwise it shouldn't be instantaneous.

I guess this problem is mostly noticeable due to the slowness of my Intel Clovertrail based tablet. It might not be an issue on the Surface Pro. I wonder if there is a way to tweak/hack the cache settings in IE to get over this issue.

I've tried it on a touch AIO PC from 2010, it has a dual core AMD processor and 4 gigs of RAM, and it's almost instant. It takes a couple of seconds to reload.

Don't underestimate the slowness of Atom. Besides, 2 seconds is outrageous. It should be instantaneous and should pull everything from the cache because we are usually talking about few minutes.

Atom's are rather slow, obviously. But IE 9-10 and upcoming 11 are all GPU powered as well with the CPU; so the Intel graphics on it are probably rather slow as well.

Atom SOC as a whole is slow. CPU, GPU as well as aging DDR2.

I thought the newer Atom chips use DDR3 now? Wasn't that a first gen thing?

And, the Atom is now an SoC chip? Really?

It's still DDR2 and starting from Clovertrail, ATOM is an SoC - afaik.

According to Wikipedia, it's the next generation - the one called Baytrail - that's getting DDR3 support. And it's going to be quad core - compared to dual core hyper threaded in Clovertrail.

there's nothing wrong with DDR2. it's slower than DDR3 but type of RAM is only one relatively small factor in speed of a system. Of course, if you're getting a new system, you're going to get DDR3 but RAM is far less important than CPU, GPU, and things like SATA vs eMMC.

it's not slow because it's DDR2. it's slow because it's an Atom processor. Atom has come a long way, but it's still an Atom. Lots of reason why Baytrail will be a big jump over Clovertrail. But I wouldn't say DDR3 is the reason.
