Control panel,printers and drivers

Hi,can anyone give me help in getting my Selphy Photo printer to work with W8.I have installed it and found an up to date driver but win 8 has placed it in a folder [in Printers and Drivers] named "unspecified".this means that it doesn't become available in the the list of printers when i try to print a photo,its prints on my Kodak hero.
I have tried to drag it into the printers folder without success.

It occurs to me that W8 doesn't know that the Canon Selphy is a printer.

If it's a case of removing and reinstalling,how do I tell Win8 its a Printer?

Is it a Cannon Selphy 900? If so, read this thread:

Alternatively, you can try to install the latest Win 7 drivers in the compatibility mode to see if that works but (apparently) Cannon offers no guarantees that the C900 will work on Windows 8.

I have a Selphy CP800 on Win8 Pro X64. I'm using the Windows 7 X64 drivers. I don't recall whether I had to use the compatibility troubleshooting mode to install the drivers, but it works well for me.
