A more aggressive form of autocorrect on a tablet?

Windows 8 autocorrect functionality doesn't seem as aggressive as on a mobile phone. It doesn't detect many of the mistakes my iPhone detects and automatically corrects. I hear that Windows Phone doesn't have this problem as well. Looks like it was deliberately done.

Perhaps the argument is that you don't need such aggressive auto-correct functionality on a PC, but when you are using the virtual keyboard of a tablet for any long data entries like...writing THIS post, becomes such a pain.

Is there any way to hack it out and make it more aggressive?

well, maybe you can try out TouchPal which is similar to Swype and has more predictive text?

TouchPal Keyboard for Windows 8 brings Swype-like typing to your slate (update: not quite ready)

Hmm, I've never really noticed on the touch keyboard the auto correct being terrible. But if it's worse than an iphone? That's probably not good.... ios' auto correct is CRAP. Windows Phone 7 and 8 have hands down THE best auto correct, especially 8.

Is it in IE 10 that auto correct is iffy or is it system wide?

Well, I've been using an iPhone for the last 3 years so I don't know if other platforms have better autocorrect, but for me, the iPhone works 10 times better than Windows 8.

    It I system wide btw.

How can someone give real world examples? Individual typing errors can be extensive. I find IE10 spelling recognition pretty good, but at least it doesn't auto-correct.

Usually, when you type something in IE 10, it flags it. Then you tap on the word to show spelling suggestions. It does some autocorrect, but from what I've seen it's more like how Word works. It doesn't autocorrect spelling errors as it is a PC and not a touchscreen phone as usually laziness isn't on the PC that way. In Word, it flags misspelled words for you to correct.

it's not that hard. i misstype "teh" all the time and luckily it gets corrected.

like I'm doing a tribute video and needed a lot of images for various people. so I used both Google Images and Bing Images and the results were quite different and highlighted each search's algorithm. I could give you each of the players' names to illustrate the differences and whether the results were accurate or not.

I'm not a fan of autocorrection where you don't have input firsthand. that's the problem with autocorrection. I know a lot of friends said they typed something and what they wanted was interpreted incorrectly and they didn't realize it until it was already submitted. I remember one message board had it. and I swore I didn't type what it said I typed but I didn't realize there was some sort of autocorrection going on. it made it look like I didn't know anything about grammar which is worse than typographical errors. grammatical errors kind of stop you in your tracks when reading. but spelling errors can be interpreted quickly and bypassed. like how you can leave out vowels and people would still be able to read it fairly quickly.

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I have a laptop which is not touch screen with Windows 8.1. I got a Venue 8 Pro and have been playing around with it. The keyboard itself is nice, but it's not autocorrecting anything. It shows the normal squiggly red underline when I misspell a word, but it won't show any suggestions. This makes typing on it really difficult compared to my other mobile...
Autocorrect files for MS Office in Software and Apps
Hi! I have a long list of cutomized autocorrect items and they are stored in MSO files. In previous Win versions the English items were saved in MSO1033, but Win 8 saves them in MSO2057. So when I transferred to Win 8, I renamed my old MSO1033 file to MSO2057. The problem, however, is that my...
