My blu-ray dvd reader is not detected under Windows 8.
I have tried the same blu-ray dvd reader on another computer that is running Windows 7 and it is correctly working.

- It is detected in BIOS
- Works with Win7 but not Win8
- Can hear it spinning when windows starts
- Can open and close the tray
- Tried different SATA ports
- Tried different SATA cables
- Detected in Device Managers
- Tried uninstalling it in device manager, then when i scan for new hardware it doesn't find anything

I've seen this in a couple of places:

1. Run Command Prompt as an Administrator. Type cmd in Windows 8 Metro UI and press cltr+shift+enter
2. Type following and say enter
reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
3. Reboot the system
4. Verify if the problem has been resolved.

I already have VLC and it's not working

Anyway, even if i don't install a software its supposed to work with data DVD and CD. For example i have a drivers DVD and when i put it in the reader there is no dvd drive detected in "my computer"
