Hello, I'm new around here so I apologize if this was posted somewhere else. I looked around for awhile but couldn't find anything in my searches.

I'm an insurance agent and my territory is quite large. So I want to get a Sony Vaio Duo 11 in an effort to go paperless.

Anybody know if it's possible to sign documents on a touch screen with a stylus? I'd like to have my customers sign PDF's and other formats of documents. I sincerely doubt that it's as easy as just grabbing a stylus and signing a PDF or other document on the dotted line... But I just thought I'd try to get some info from on this fine forum before I plunk down $1,900 on a Duo 11.

I briefly checked out DocuSign, but it looks like it's a bit of a 3 or 4 step process and I was looking for something easier and more professional for my clients.

Any Ideas?

Thanks In Advance For Your Help!!

Cant help you with the specifics of the Sony, but we're using the app PDF touch (was about $3) and are able to do exactly this on our Dell XPS12's.
We use it to complete assessments that have been PDF'd and then save to our clients folders. Alternatively, we also print to One Note where you can then add any other details that might relate to your clients.
Currently trialling an Andoit stylus which will hopefully work out well.
Hope this assists
(I was in the same boat as you not so long ago)

The short answer is YES, easy.

Since you are obviously a person of acumen, enterprise and education, as well as commercially oriented with the means to afford it I recommend the purchase of either the book(s) Windows 8 Step by Step by Cyprien Adrian Rusen and Joli Ballew as well as, at option, Windows 8 IN Depth. Brian Kittel and Paul McFadereis.

These are readily available at Barnes and Noble. Step by Step is presently $29 discounted 20% and Windows in Depth is currently US $49.95.

I have both. Step by Step is excellent but I wanted more. Windows 8 in Depth is even more educational.

A great investment for you surely that will definitely benefit your business.

OP: yes, it'll be very easy to do. The Duo 11 has an active digitizer so it's designed to do just what you want and much, much more. There are a few pdf software annotators around: I use Bluebeam PDF Revu.

It should be just be pretty easy to annotate in Adobe Reader, and I'm guessing Reader as well, the built in pdf app in Windows 8.

If you're going paperless, BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP! Nothing would suck more than losing critical documents and files due to a system crash of some kind.

Thanks very much everybody!! Due to your excellent information, I have placed my order for the awesome Duo 11. Woo Hoo!

Oh man, I can't wait either.. This will eliminate the dreaded situation where I travel for 2 hours to meet a client and forget 1 stinking paper out of 100 and then I'm chasing the customer down for a week or two trying to get a signature on that last paper. Now i'll have it all right there on the Sony.

This is going to make my life so much easier!

After that Sony arrives in a couple weeks, I think I'll be hanging around here a lot more often. :)

Thanks Everybody!!

I'd also look into using SkyDrive in Windows 8, within File Explorer. You can tweak the Documents directory to be in the SkyDrive user folder, so you have documents locally on the solid state drive on the Duo 11 as well as in SkyDrive. Changes made in SkyDrive trickle down to the SkyDrive folder, as well as any documents within Office 2013.

Cloud backup, hard drive backup, whatever. Just do it and make sure it's foolproof. Or even an external hard drive setup/NAS with Storage Spaces in Windows 8.... :)

Congratulations! You'll be happy with the Duo, I'm sure. There are Duo users and tablet experts at the tablet PC forum here. They may be better equipped to answer all your tablet questions when your computer arrives.
