Just so that you know, I ordered the DELL. It's taking 10 days to ship to Japan all because I asked for the English version of the OS. Shame! 5 more days until the ETA.

good deal! please leave your impressions. I haven't had a chance to play with any recent Dell machines. Well, I take that back. I did play for a couple minutes on the one with the rotating display. That was kind of neat. Would've spent more time if I didn't see it until I was about to leave.

If you are willing to spend a little more, the Acer Iconia W700 seems to be the best available Windows 8 Tablet. It's the fastest and longest lasting. Newer ones come with a case that holds the keyboard. Amazon has the cheapest one close to $700 USD.

I've already bought the Dell Latitude 10 Essentials. I'm testing it these days. Still too early to speak out my thoughts.

Still getting used to the tablet, especially Windows 8. Hope to follow up with a review in a few days.

instead of that wall of tiles, you should break up your tiles into groups and name your groups as well. I have my core group of tiles and then I break it down into categories like multimedia, utilities, news, etc.

also, Immersive (aka Metro/Modern) IE10 is great for touch. but if you're interested, the experimental Nightly build of Firefox also works with the Modern interface and will have touch features in the near future. Much better job than what Chrome is currently doing (which is pretty much nothing for Windows 8 with absolutely zero touch features).

True. I'm gonna properly organize everything eventually. The two things that I use the tablet for are mainly browsing the Internet and streaming movies and other video files from the PC.

I tries Firefox nightly and felt it wasn't that great. Can you install extensions on it? I want Lastpass and Adblock Plus in there.

Which file browser are you using? Is there a good metro style file browser than can also easily connect to the network?

Also, is there a way to lower the delay of tap and hold (for context menu)? The default delay is kinda too long for me.

Which messenger app do you use? I use Digsby on the desktop because it is very simple and allows me to link all my account. I tried the metro version of IM+ but its not simple enough. I also get disconnected from it when the tablet goes into sleep.

Another thing. Is there a way to increase the speed of animation or even remove it completely? I don't like animations. I have completely disabled them on the desktop environment.

Which player do you use to play video? I cannot play FLV and MKV with the stock Metro video player. Sucks! I currently use WMP for those. MPC-HC has terrible touch support. I'm waiting for the Metro version of VLC. That should fix the video player problem.

yes, right now, Firefox Nightly is limited. you can install plugins but some of them don't work with the Nightly build without some tinkering.

file browser? it depends on what app you're using.

for Modern apps, for the context menu, you swipe from either the bottom of the screen or the top of the screen. for desktop apps, yeah, it's a long hold.

yes, I use IM+. I set a long period before it goes to sleep so it hasn't been a problem for me.

I still use the desktop apps mostly for video playback, especially MPC-HC, beause of MKV. yes, the desktop apps are pretty poor for touch. I do like Metro Video Player (the third-party app in the Windows Store, not from Microsoft). It works great but no MKV support. can't wait for Modern VLC. That'll solve a lot of problems. MP4 is a great container for h.264 but it's not as flexible as MKV.

Other than that, I mostly watch video through the Netflix app.

as for animations, I remember reading some people disabling them. but I don't know how personally (since it didn't interest me).

The context menu I was talking about was the one that pops up when you press and hold selected text, to copy them to clipboard. Paste also shows up whenever you can paste stuff.

About IM+. You mean you set a long period before the tablet enters standby? Or some other setting?

I like the stock video player too. Just need a touch friendly time slider. I cannot remember what, but I ran into some problems when running MPC-HC. I'll check it out when I get back home from work. (What am I doing not taking the tablet to work??!!! Hehe. Will get there soon.)

I wish there was Netflix in Japan. Only Hulu is available but Hulu doesn't have enough or recent content.
