What happened to the great inking that started with the UMPC and I guess ended with Windows7 ? No matter how sloppy my writing got windows had no problem converting it to type. Window 8 does a pretty good job but there are several differences. I miss the light colored writing pad. With that pad I could move the insert button to the left Side. (Good for lefties.) Also there were some great apps. A calculator where you could actually "write" 12 X 12 click "total" and get an answer. There was a Sudoku program where you could write in the box and it would change handwriting to type. Those 2 and others were available on the Microsoft website. I can't remember if it said for Tablet or for UMPC. I still have a Couple of those programs on one of My tablets, I tried to install them on my Samsung Slate 7 .. . They won't install. Any way -the old handwriting recognition was great. I think It started with XP.. . And stopped with windows7. Feels like we are starting from scratch. My Lenovo has Windows7 So does my HTC Shift. Considered installing Windows 8 on both but I don't want to lose the old handwriting recognition. If I installed Windows 8 as an upgrade would I have the old handwriting recognition or this black writing pad?
