usb devices not recognised

Hello all

recently, I updated my Ipad but following that, I couldn't get it to connect to my Windows 8 PC ( I spent 3 hours on the phone to Apple and they couldn't sort it); then the PC stopped recognising my android phone and today, I tried to connect a camera. I also tried to install new video driver but the install failed

so, it seems that any USB device is unable to connect and there is a problem with installing drivers.

everything else seems fine so I am at a loss what to do next

Sometimes you can go into Device Manager and uninstall the drivers from the usb devices which have a yellow ? and then reboot, Windows will load new drivers. Otherwise try a different USB socket.
