Galaxy S3 shows offline in bluetooth device.

I can pair my Galaxy S3 with my laptop but when it does the status in devices shows offline. I can't seem to get past that. Any help will be greatly appreciated. My S3 connects fine with my Jambox, so I know it can connect. Thank you.

    Hi there
I've a galaxy S3 -- Windows 8 blue tooth connection is a bit hit and miss. What I've found usually works is to REMOVE device and then re-pair it again.

It's a pain but it usually works.

Presumably you've enabled the S3 so your computer can see it.

    Cheers

Seems you are going thru exactly same issue which is bothering me since fortnight. I posted this under other thread:-

I am using Windows 8 64 bit on my new Sony vaio notebook E series SVE15127CB. Recently I checked that my Nokia e 71 mobile and blackberry 8520 are showing offline even after successful pairing. Several times I removed and paired but results wont change. I updated the driver and also installed Atheros newer version ending with 212, but no success. The devices are showing offline. I tried to transfer file still its not working. Also uninstalled the driver and re-installed them no success. You can say I tried EVERYTHING possible in 3 days. No success.

I think windows 8 has a BIG TIME Bluetooth compatibility issues. My last resort is to attempt a recovery. But I cant go for it as I have many application loaded on my note book (as I am into graphic designing stuff). It would be a complex for me to follow the procedure. If anyone can suggest something I have missed would be highly appreciable. Thanks.

Hey, I found the solution to my problem in Windows 8. Actually the culprit was Ccleaner. I had blocked the start up operation thru ccleaner and that was not allowing the Bluetooth to get connected.

Even if you don't have ccleaner installed you can check start up operation by opening the 'Search' from Charms and entering 'msconfig' and in the windows click on 'start up' and there see if 'BTtray' and 'btvStack' are running. They both are for Bluetooth connectivity.

Moreover, please note in windows 8 the paired devices (thru Bluetooth) show offline if there is no file transfer taking place. As soon as you start transferring the files it turns online automatically. A bit puzzling though but new things attract bugs

Yeah i used ccleaner for years but i still use msconfig for services and task manager for normal startup items (no idea why they moved it in win 8) but ive deliberately left every intel wireless and blutooth setting running but still no joy. Out of interest what was the sevice called you switched back on? I have turned alot off since we got this laptop

I switched on BtTray - Atheros Qualcomm & BtvStack - Atheros Qualcomm communications. Both were disabled accidently in the start up, I just enables.

Btw, are you constantly updating your windows 8 ? If yes, you can see if you have an old restore point when the windows were updated, or before the date when your Bluetooth was working okay. You can try that too.

Moreover, I was advised by a Sony professional not to update windows 8 for few months to avoid any compatibility or software conflicts. I feel there is no harm in maintaining this procedure.

    Hi there
Why on earth people use these products like Ccleaner which mess around with the OS I can never understand. It's a miracle at all that devices still work after all the messing around some of these programs do to the registry and OS.

If you like installing / uninstalling loads of stuff regularly - just backup the OS regularly and restore it again if the software doesn't work. Keep OS on a separate disk / partition so an complete OS image backup shouldn't take more than around 10 - 15 mins - especially if you have it installed on an SSD.

Because ccleaner is an easy way to disable startup programs , which in my opinion is essential (if you know what your doing). Time and time again i have repaired ailing and slow systems simply by disabling the myriad of items people have in starting up with windows , only yesterday i disabled an AOL help tray a friends wife had running (along with countless other pointless processes) , they stopped using AOL as their ISP four years ago. Learning how to and when to disable startup items both in the startup folder and services folder is imo essential to keeping any system running smoothly , Brink has put up a rather usefull tuturiol on here for doing it via windows and ccleaner and i think everyone should read it.

Registry cleaners imo are pointless and some more aggressive ones can cause more issues but as for the rest of the options in ccleaner are brilliant (i will say though the reg cleaner in ccleaner is perfectly safe
