No, I got a ASRock P67 Extreme6 and i5-2500k. Heard the 3770k is a great processor though. Whenever I decide to upgrade (down the road) I will be going with a Core i7.

Nah.

This is mainly an enthusiast site. Enthusiasts overclock. Older Intel motherboards didn't allow overclocking. So, enthusiasts don't buy Intel motherboards, even if they could overclock to their heart's content with the newer boards.

Yes, I was shocked to see Intel market this board (DZ77GA-70K) as an "overclockers" board! It is effortless to overclock with it and the i7-3770k, so that's what I'm doing. I have the Intel liquid CPU cooler and I'm running at 4.5GHz at 40 degrees C at rest and 70 degrees C at 100% CPU load, so I'm very happy with it. I was just wondering if anyone else was using the sdame hardware. I bought my board NIB on eBay for $114.50, so I couldn't pass it up!

As it's double that price at Newegg, makes sense.

Never tried an Intel MoBo and I stay away from the Gigabyte / ASRock ones. I go all the way with Asus MoBo's, as they have mostly the better specs and are better for OC as they use good / better quality parts.

My actual P8Z77-V + 3770k is quite a good combo. I originally planned to get the P8Z77-V-Premium, but at the end I didn't need all the extra features of it.

Is your OC Prime95-stable and how do you get your 100% CPU-Load ?

There is a difference if you have a 100%-CPU-Load, because you repair a NZB-File or if you have a 100%-CPU-Load when running Prime95, as your CPU-Temp's will be higher when running Prime95.

Do you check your Temp's with Real Temp + Core Temp ?

Maybe have also a read here: Click, even that you use a LCS.

OC the Ivy Bridge is a bit of a pain compared to the Sandy Bridge. My Ivy @4200MHz scores in benchmarks equal scores compared to my SB @4500MHz, but the SB is running much cooler.

I got my 2600k up to @5000MHz on Air (Thermaltake FRIO OCK), but the Ivy is even running with a LCS @4500MHz already pretty hot.

Thanks for the good info! I use Real Temp and the CPU stress test is Intel's utility, but I've also used Prime95. I was going to get the same ASUS board you have, but the reviews were negative regarding the audio support, and the Intel board got high marks for audio, which is very importent to me. The other Intel board that I've used for the past 5 years with excellent results is the DG43GT board, but it's a socket 775 board and I'm not building thos any more as I'm on the socket 1155's now. Since I'm using the Intel DZ77GA-70K board with the Intel i7-3770k CPU and the Intel liquid cooling kit, I expect to have few, if any compatibility issues and so far, I haven't had any issues at all.

The Specs of the Intel MoBo are ok for the money you paid for. I only use 2.1 Logitech-Speakers and my Headset has it's own Sound-Card, so the OnBoard-Sound is not very important for me.

Looks like that you got your 3770k out of a better batch then I'm.

Thanks! Yes, to get the board (NIB) for $114.50 was a deal I couldn't pass up! I got the i7-3770k for $229 at MicroCenter, which is also a great deal. This is my 1st new PC in 6 years and I'm extremely happy with it. The onboard audio is fantastic and I have a full PCI-e slot for my Creative HiFiX card if I ever need it, which I doubt I ever will. Thanks again!

I need 1.325 V VCore to get my 3770k to run Prime-Stable @4700MHz, but my 3DMark-11-Pro / Advanced - Scores are around the same like @4200MHz.

I've had my Intel DZ77GA-70K motherboard installed and running for almost 3 months now. Here are my system specs:

- Intel i7-3770k CPU (Retail, boxed, used Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound)
- Intel RTS2011 Liquid Cooling CPU cooler with 120mm fan
- Intel DZ77GA-70K motherboard running 0064 BIOS (flashed to 0064 on 3/15/2013)
- Crucial 32GB DDR3 RAM (Ballistix Sport)
- Intel 120GB Model 330 SSD (SATA III)
- PNY GTX 650 video card
- WD 3TB Red hard drive (SATA III)
- Corsair 650D case with 3 x 200mm fans
- Corsair 750AX power supply
- LG DVD RW drive
- Monsoon Planar speakers and subwoofer
- Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit OS

I'm overclocking the CPU, and I'm at 4.5GHZ at 32 degrees C at rest and 75 degrees C at 100% CPU utilization. The board was extremely easy to setup, tweak and leave running. I've updated the BIOS several times and the last time (0064), I had to set my BIOS settings to "default" prior to applying the BIOS update and everything worked once I did that. I have never had a BSOD and the PC runs very well. I use the BIOS to update my settings (overclocking) as I found this is more reliable than the Intel Extreme Performance Utility that runs on Windows 7. All drivers are current and I'm 100% satisfied with this motherboard, it really shines with this CPU! I'm not a gamer (hence the GTX 650 video card), but I tested my son's GTX 660 OC video card in my PC and it was fantastic and the performance in the latest games (BF3, Crysis 3, etc...) was smooth and fast!

I use my PC for work and I use a lot of virtual machines and Oracle's VirtualBox runs great on this PC and the VM's perform just like an actual PC running that particular OS, which is what I wanted. Documentation is there, you just have to search for it on Intel's website and the accompanying technical information is staggering, if you want to read it! The Corsair 650D is a big, heavy case, but it holds all of the components, keeps them cool and I can't hear any fans at all, so it's doing exactly what I expect it to do. I read up on the issues some others had with this board, but I have not had any issues at all, so this is just another data point... I'm not an employee of Intel and have no financial interest in Intel, I'm just a very satisfied customer! BTW, I'll be installing Win8 soon (since that's the point of this forum!) and I'll update my review after that experience... Thanks!

Just bought the 3770K (Best Buy price matched with Micro Center). So I am going to be putting my 2500k and ASRock P67 Extreme 6 into another build I'm working on. I'm currently looking at the ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard to house my new 3770K. Have you had any issues with this CPU?

4/23- Decided to go with the Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H, its a mid range board that looks like it will fit all my needs.

What are your settings in BIOS? I've had the same setup for a while and have decided to try overclocking but can't seem to get the multiplier to work. I just bought an H80i cooler, but i have not installed it yet, i decided to try overclock on my air cooler first and benchmark the temperatures as i go from higher frequencies and eventually from air to water cooling.

I have tried to change options but cannot seem to see RealTemp or CPU-Z pickup the updated multiplier speed. I've disabled Hyper-threading along with turbo settings.

Please help!

EDIT: I have the DZ77GAL-70k board... Does the lite version have anything to do with the multipliers not sticking?

The GA-70k and the GAL-70k are the exact same boards but the GAL doesn't include the Bluetooth module. I set my BIOS to defaults, then simply moved the "slider" in the UEFI BIOS to 4.50GHz and it worked like a charm. Try setting everything else back to "Default" 1st... If you still can't get it to work, I'll send you my phone number and we can talk you through the BIOS settings. We'll get you there, don't worry!

I did as you said and restored the BIOS settings back to default, but then after using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, setting the multiplier to x45, i got the BSOD. I am currently stress testing using Prime95...

"then simply moved the "slider" in the UEFI BIOS to 4.50GHz" - Doesn't this only increase the turbo boost frequency? How did you get it to idle at 4.5GHz aswell? When i tried this a few days ago, i tried to run Portal 2 and it kept crashing haha.

My update...

I'm suspecting that your RAM may be what's holding your PC back from successfully overclocking. When I 1st bought my board and CPU, I tried to overclock and all I got was BSOD's until I swapped out the GSkill RipJaws RAM out for 32GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport 12800 DDR3 RAM and it doesn't hold me back now.

XyrusX, I used the UEFI BIOS tools to set the frequency to 4.5GHz, using the "slider" and the Intel supplied settings, and made no other modifications. Moving beyond 4.5, I used the XTU tools, but I found the BIOS was a more reliable way to set higher frequencies...
