Anyone else using the Intel DZ77GAL-70K and i7-3770k?

Is anyone here else using the Intel DZ77GAL-70K and i7-3770k? My hardware will arrive this week and I'm upgrading my Q6600-based PC with this hardware. So far, I've been reading good things about this combo.

No, I got a ASRock P67 Extreme6 and i5-2500k. Heard the 3770k is a great processor though. Whenever I decide to upgrade (down the road) I will be going with a Core i7.

    Nah.

This is mainly an enthusiast site. Enthusiasts overclock. Older Intel motherboards didn't allow overclocking. So, enthusiasts don't buy Intel motherboards, even if they could overclock to their heart's content with the newer boards.

Yes, I was shocked to see Intel market this board (DZ77GA-70K) as an "overclockers" board! It is effortless to overclock with it and the i7-3770k, so that's what I'm doing. I have the Intel liquid CPU cooler and I'm running at 4.5GHz at 40 degrees C at rest and 70 degrees C at 100% CPU load, so I'm very happy with it. I was just wondering if anyone else was using the sdame hardware. I bought my board NIB on eBay for $114.50, so I couldn't pass it up!

As it's double that price at Newegg, makes sense.

Never tried an Intel MoBo and I stay away from the Gigabyte / ASRock ones. I go all the way with Asus MoBo's, as they have mostly the better specs and are better for OC as they use good / better quality parts.

My actual P8Z77-V + 3770k is quite a good combo. I originally planned to get the P8Z77-V-Premium, but at the end I didn't need all the extra features of it.

Is your OC Prime95-stable and how do you get your 100% CPU-Load ?

There is a difference if you have a 100%-CPU-Load, because you repair a NZB-File or if you have a 100%-CPU-Load when running Prime95, as your CPU-Temp's will be higher when running Prime95.

Do you check your Temp's with Real Temp + Core Temp ?

Maybe have also a read here: Click, even that you use a LCS.

OC the Ivy Bridge is a bit of a pain compared to the Sandy Bridge. My Ivy @4200MHz scores in benchmarks equal scores compared to my SB @4500MHz, but the SB is running much cooler.

I got my 2600k up to @5000MHz on Air (Thermaltake FRIO OCK), but the Ivy is even running with a LCS @4500MHz already pretty hot.

Thanks for the good info! I use Real Temp and the CPU stress test is Intel's utility, but I've also used Prime95. I was going to get the same ASUS board you have, but the reviews were negative regarding the audio support, and the Intel board got high marks for audio, which is very importent to me. The other Intel board that I've used for the past 5 years with excellent results is the DG43GT board, but it's a socket 775 board and I'm not building thos any more as I'm on the socket 1155's now. Since I'm using the Intel DZ77GA-70K board with the Intel i7-3770k CPU and the Intel liquid cooling kit, I expect to have few, if any compatibility issues and so far, I haven't had any issues at all.

The Specs of the Intel MoBo are ok for the money you paid for. I only use 2.1 Logitech-Speakers and my Headset has it's own Sound-Card, so the OnBoard-Sound is not very important for me.

Looks like that you got your 3770k out of a better batch then I'm.

Thanks! Yes, to get the board (NIB) for $114.50 was a deal I couldn't pass up! I got the i7-3770k for $229 at MicroCenter, which is also a great deal. This is my 1st new PC in 6 years and I'm extremely happy with it. The onboard audio is fantastic and I have a full PCI-e slot for my Creative HiFiX card if I ever need it, which I doubt I ever will. Thanks again!
