I've just got windows 8 and am not to familiar with it yet.
My old computer is fried but the hard drives are intact. I simply wanted to put the old drives into the new computer and pull off the info onto an external drive. Everything works fine and I can get most of the files. The problem is that some of them were locked under the old administrator account (it was windows 7). I can't for the life of me remember what that account was and don't know how to access them. All I want to do is copy the few locked files onto the new computer. Any suggestions?
I think there is a way by taking control of it but I don't know how that's done. The stuff I've tried hasn't worked. (I used the advanced properties only, maybe there is something in the registry I can change but I don't know what).
Thanks,
