I have a new, home-built, hi-spec desktop pc with Win 8 Pro OEM and MS Office Home & Business 2010 installed. I have a Canon Pixma MP990 all in one with Win 8 drivers installed and it shows up in my list of devices under PC Settings/Devices.

I have no problems locating my printer (device) and printing within Office applications . However, I am not able to print a .pdf via Adobe Reader or anything which uses the Win 8 Start page. Ctl+P doesn’t produce a print dialogue and WinKey+K produces Devices but no printers. If I go to Charm/Devices, it lists no printers either. It’s early stages but I’m beginning to regret moving to Win 8 on a desktop pc.

Any ideas, please?
Pedro

Hi Brink,
Thanks very much. Thedefault MS Reader does indeed show my printer and its options. However, it’s not on the first list and Ihave to click on ‘More’ for my (Canon) printer to appear.
I’m still puzzled that on the Win8 Start Screen/Devices thatmy printer is not listed as a device although it is shown under PCSettings/Devices. All I get on the Win8Start Screen/Devices list is ‘Second screen’ with no ‘More’ option to showany other devices.
Regards,
Pedro

Thx Brink;
I've made Reader the default but will keep Adobe Reader on until it has a printing option.
Although my Canon printer shows under PC Settings\Devices it seems I should assume it will only show under the Devices charm for Apps which support printing (such as Reader).
Thx for your help. I will mark this one solved.
Pedro

You're most welcome. Hopefully Adobe will add on soon.
