Asus S400CA 24GB SSD used or not? How to know

I am sorry to "revive" this thread but I'm having the exact same question.

    I have a ASUS S400CA, i3 version, and I'm running Windows 8.1.

ExpressCache and Intel Rapid Storage drivers are installed, the latest ones from the ASUS website, but I can't find the Settings Panel anywhere.

What solution do I have? I'm not sure if irst is working, the laptop is starting fast when no users are logged in, but when there are 3 logged users, it's very laggy when starting up from standby and especially when switching between users.

Any solution? I'd like to mention that I've recently RESET the laptop because I had had some Store problems. So the system is "fresh".

Nope, I don't have it, and I've searched all over the PC. I have the latest drivers, as I said above, and still nothing.

I just got a referbished s400ca with the i5. I am planning on wiping it and reinstalling just what I want. I wanted to see how to restore the quick boot SSD function and found this thread.

I ran the above command and got:
    ExpressCache Command Version 1.0.86.0
    Copyright 2010-2011 Diskeeper Corporation.
    Date Time: <today's date> (PORTASUS #0)

Product is not licensed to run on this system.

This may mean ASUS has branded the software and it can't be seen by Intel's methods. Not sure.

Jeojoking: Do you have the c:\eSupport directory? It contained the drivers and ASUS software. The ASUS Install program (c:\eSupport\eDriver\AsInsWiz.exe) should install all the drivers. If not I will find out this weekend.

    My Solution

So my format and install was a great learning process!
    1. I found out how to create a UEFI bootable USB drive to load Windows 8 with. Done with Rufus.
      1. UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

    2. Started Windows 8 install.
    3. Then I wiped the 500GB drive of all partitions during Windows 8 install. I asked Windows to create a 200gb drive to install to. The rest of the drive was partitioned for data. The 200GB became these partitions:
      1. 300mb Recovery
      2. 100mb System
      3. 128mb MSR (Reserved)
      4. 194.8gb Windows8

    4. Finished the Windows 8 install
    5. Installed ASUS drivers with ASUS Install Tool (from c:\eSupport\eDriver\AsInsWiz.exe). I installed the following software from it's list:
      1. All drivers
      2. LifeFrame
      3. Power4Gear
      4. USB Charger Plus
      5. Splendid
      6. Win flash
      7. Smart Gesture
      8. ASUS Live Update

    6. Run ASUS Live Update
      1. An icon appears in the system tray on the desktop. Click it and install critical updates.
      2. re-run after reboots until all updates install.

    7. Updated Windows to 8.1
    8. Followed process to install ExpressCache
      1. HOWTO: Configure a large (> 32GB) SSD to work with ExpressCache
      2. In the step to setup the drive I used the whole 24GB drive. NOTE:You may want to leave some for the Intel Rapid Start as mentioned in the second post of the thread. YMMV
        1. To use the whole drive: "create partition primary" without setting "size"

      3. To install ExpressCache use C:\eSupport\eDriver\Software\Others\other\ExpressCache\Win8_64_1.0.86\Setup_x64.exe not the version from Lenovo.
      4. I followed the suggestion to preload Windows with the "eccmd -preload ." command and my development suite.
      5. rebooted for good measure

This worked great! My development suite usually takes a minute or so to load. Only took a 5 seconds to load! As the Robertsons say Happy Happy Happy!!

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I have been trying all the methods found on google for setting up expresscache and I keep getting the same results.

I have an Asus Vivobook s500ca with a 500 gig primary drive with 24 gig solid state, just like the s400, and I have setup express cache using the methods previously mentioned in this thread but whenever I enter the command eccmd -info I never get any info about my drive, all it tells me is
    "ExpressCache Command Version 1.0.100.0
    Copyright- 2010-2012 Condusiv Technologies.
Date Time: [insert current date and time] (PaulUltrabook #0)"

and nothing after that, it doesnt display anything else. I feel like this means it isnt configured properly. I have some experience in IT so I know what the terminology etc. means but im totally stumped with this.
I used diskpart to clean and create partition, ive also used eccmd to create the partition and nothing changes the outcome. thanks in advance for the help!

thecrash91: You said you partitioned the SSD and I needed to do that too. You used the command from HOWTO: Configure a large (> 32GB) SSD to work with ExpressCache and set it to set id=73 override? (step 6)
Another thing to verify is that you used ASUS's ExpressCache. Do you still have the original driver folder? Mine was called c:\eSupport\. Inside there was the ExpressCache that I used. Not sure if this makes a difference or not but it might.

    Good luck.

Whenever I would try to run the set id command it would give me errors. So this time I started from the beginning and uninstalled expresscache before trying to set up the drive. and yes I was using the version from Asus' website. It works now, I guess all I needed to do was uninstall it before partitioning the drive. Thanks for the help! I am getting statistics now, and I am currently preloading c:\windows into my cache. I cant wait to see how much faster this already fast laptop runs.

I also had to uninstall and reinstall ExpressCache a couple of times before I did it right. Be sure to reboot after uninstalling.

Glad you got it going. So am I glad it works.
