I would like to share my experiences Installing Windows 8 on a Toshiba Tecra A10 (European Modell)
The Update or Install works fine and Windows recognizes allmost all hardware, except:
After installing those drivers all devices are functional.
Setup does not recognize the dual point device (touchpad and accupoint from ALPS) correctly and treats it like a standard mouse. So accu point and touchpad are both enabled and working, without Problems. But it is not possible to switch them off or do some advanced settings. Drivers from Toshiba (Windows7 or Windows8 from later Tecra modells) dont work properly, causing pauses in the mouse behavior. Accu Point is not working at all.
Original Alps driver from there home page does not work.
Try the lenovo 0kto02w8.exe UltraNav Trackpoint driver, it contains the Alps driver Release Date : 08/10/2012, Version(x86) : 8.0.1611.1xx with Installer Version(x64) : 8.100.1611.1xx with Installer for Windows 8.
It runs properly and supports the complete functionality of the hardware.
Sometimes there are minor problems with the display. Don't try to install toshiba display drivers without creating a recovery snap shot before, since it could happen that you are not able to install the original driver again. All the Toshiba display drivers tried were not better than the original microsoft driver for Mobile Intel 4 Express-Chipset Driver. It seems that it is the last driver version Intel developed for this chipset. It seems there is no further support of Intel. Please post if someone finds a better solution for this chipset.
The Toshiba Utility for Function Keys does not work.
Since Power Management works fine in Windows 8, i did not try to install the Toshiba Power Saver Utility.
Maybe it is helpful for someone

The Update or Install works fine and Windows recognizes allmost all hardware, except:
- Bluetooth --> use latest BT-Stack from Toshiba Support Page (v80012T_20110809_x64.exe works)
- HDD Crash Sensor --> Toshiba hddprot-20121026130407.zip (contains TC30497500A.exe) work
With prior Versions the Driver will be installed and work, but you can't set the Protection Properties.
After installing those drivers all devices are functional.
