Touch Screen Works Intermittently

Recently upgraded to windows 8, and started to use the touchscreen.
However it will only work for the best part of a minuet then stop working.
I will then have to wait 30 seconds for it to start working again.
Its like it freezes (but i know it doesn't because i can still use the mouse ect)

My computer is a:
Acer Aspire 5745P (Laptop)
i3-370M
3GB Ram
and obviously Touchscreen

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an Acer Aspire ZS600 touch screen computer and it works fine. DOES NOT HELP YOU BUT AT LEAST YOU KNOW THEY DO WORK. Except when you hit the caps key by mistake. no warning or indication on the keyboard.

I have exactly the same laptop and am experiencing the same problem, I am still running Win 7 so I don't think it's a problem with Win 8. I also have a friend with the same laptop and problem. Sorry I can't help but if you do find a solution it would be great to hear it.

is this a capacitive or resistive screen?

Pretty sure it's capacitive - ie not based on pressure, doesn't work with gloves on...
