Solved No network adapter driver

Yesterday morning I was still using Vista and had access to the internet. I then installed Windows 8 and found that I could no longer connect. I checked everything, eventually discovering that I didn't have a network adapter driver. My service provider advised me to take my Windows 8 disk to the shop where I bought it and ask them to give me a disk with the missing driver. It seems strange to me that my Widows installation disk wouldn't include the driver necessary to connect to the internet. I am still stuck even if it is possible to download the driver (I am using my son's iMac for this post) unless I can download it to a flash drive and transfer it to my computer. If I were desperate I could reformat the hard drive to its factory settings which would bring back Vista and allow me to connect to the internet.

Sorry for my rambling but I have spent hours trying to solve this problem.

If you know the make model number of your PC go to
The manufacturers web site and download drivers from there.

Thanks averchat. I went to the Lenovo website, entered my computer's model number, etc. and opened the driver matrix which purported to show all available drivers. Unfortunately I can't work out which driver I need to download as I can't find a section which refers to network adapters (I can't even find a reference to my old driver). I have posted my problem on the Lenovo forum.

Further to the above, I found what may have been (!) network adapter drivers (Intel). I am using my son's iMac to access the internet and when I tried to download the drivers all I got was a text file, so I suspect that even if I find the correct driver I won't be able to download it to my flashdrive.

Network drivers usually have the word “Ethernet” in them as it refers to network adapter.

I finally took my computer to a technician who could find no drivers which would make my network adapter compatible with Windows 8. He replaced the old network adapter (??) with a new one and everything now works fine.

So happy for you that the problem has been resolved! Totally understand the pain as I have the same problem and have spent several days on this. I just responded to you on Lenovo Forum before I saw your messages on this Forum.

Would you mind doing me a favor by letting me know what brand and model of the Network adapter was used to replace the original one? Thanks very much in advance!
