    Having Trouble With DVD-RW Drive

Hello, good people. I'm new to these forums and Windows 8, and I'm glad there are kind souls out there to help.

Yuh see, I bought this new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310. There's a description of the laptop here - the laptop comes with a
"DVD-SuperMulti drive (+/-R double layer)" and I have identified the name of this drive as TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-U633J. I was having a problem with this drive, as when I put a DVD in the drive, it would spin and make a repetitive noise like it was trying to read the same spot of something over and over. It would not recognize the DVD. I tried multiple DVDs, all with the same result.

I figured I would check the driver, so I went to the Device Manager and found it under "DVD/CD-ROM Drives". I tried to update the driver by searching online, and it said it had the latest and best driver already installed: "CD-ROM Drive". No wonder it's not playing DVDs! I tried uninstalling the drive and restarting my computer so it recognized a new device and installed a driver for it, but that fixed nothing.

I know this device MUST be a DVD drive. Just look at the name of the drive, it has "DVD" in it!

Apparently this is the driver. But I downloaded it, and it unzipped and stuff, and then, I just kinda, didn't understand anything after that, hahaha.

How can I watch Pink Floyd's "The Wall" when Windows is acting like a doofus!

Well, thank you for any advice you can give me. I'm, I'm not sure what this "Trashback" thing down here is, so I'm just gonna kinda leave it blank and see how that turns out.

Here's a set of instruction directly from your link

This file contains a compressed (or zipped) set of files. Download the file to a folder on your hard drive, and then run (double-click) it to unzip the set of files. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.

I Googled the name of the drive and that website came up. I figured the manufacturer wouldn't matter.

Anyways, as before I unzipped the stuff, and the little thing that popped up asked me to select my drive which I did, and to find the F/W file, which I'm assuming is the .bin file I just unzipped, and it said it couldn't find a suitable drive for the F/W. ... Great.

Am I asking for trouble? in BSOD Crashes and Debugging
I was getting random BSOD's from a driver called US40fs64.sys so I just renamed it to US40fs64.old and things are working OK so far. I can't find any listing of what that driver actually does. Could I hurt my system by renaming it this way? So far, it seems to have helped.
