Just built a PC for my neighbor... He is on a tight budget and I built a PC based on the Intel 860 CPU, Gigabyte B75 mb, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 2 DVD RW drives, and 500GB 7200rpm Hitachi hard drive. We used the onboard video and audio until his budget permits the purchase of the ATI HD 770 Sapphire video card and a 128GB SSD and perhaps 16GB more RAM (it's cheap at $50 for an 8GB stick). We used an old HP Presario full tower case that must weigh 80lbs and a new 650 watt CoolerMaster power supply.
I loaded Win7 on it as he owned the s/w and he'll move to Win8 sometime this year. This PC replaces an 8 year-old PC that I also built for him. He uses the system for web browsing, DVD watching and music, nothing very demanding. This was my 1st Gigabyte motherboard in 7 years or so and I was very impressed! Easy to setup, fast and rock solid!
The board looks tiny in this behemoth case, but he really likes it. I like the HP shrouds over the CPU that uses a 120mm fan at the rear to pull the heated air off the CPU. This PC is no speed demon but it replaces a P4 based system with 2.5GB of RAM, running WinXP SP3, so he's very happy with it and so am I!
