Nice idea about the scotch pad. I will have to keep that in mind. Yeah, cigarette smoke is bad news for electronics. One of the guys I work with smokes and he gummed up a $15,000 piece of electronic equipment so badly that it needed to totally rebuilt. My boss was not very happy!

I've gotten a few PC's gummed up with cigarette smoke residue. A little gasoline and a match cleans it up quit nicely.

If you do it right, can you collect the insurance money?

Yeah, some are so bad, I won't even bring them into the house. I clean the really dirty ones in the garage. It's a wonder these things can even run they are so caked with dust and debris.

    My PC

Here's the PC I built for myself. It's my main PC and is nothing fancy but it's rock solid reliable and I'm using it right now... It's quiet, cool and runs Win7 and Win8 nice and snappy. I'll get a better video card, I gave my Radeon 7750 to our son last month and this one is good for Windows, I'm not a gamer...

Nice Nice and clean looking, I like that.
Mine's not worth posting pictures of. Don't get me wrong, it does what I need it to do, but it's pretty run of the mill looking. Next build maybe.

The wiring looks great! I wish I could say the same about my PC. Maybe its time to see if I can tidy things up a bit.

    Good on you!

It's always fun to put a little micoATX board in a full size tower, really makes you think about technology and how back then, it was needed to have addon video or sound cards or Ethernet cards as the board didn't have it built in; even though they're like a massive sheet of PCB! I really like how back then, they knew how to build PC cases. These days, it's just a baby heatsink and baby fan and usually no case fan and that's that. Back in the day, they had CPU heatsink shrouds with the fan in the rear of the case, as to pull cool air in, through the CPU and out the back versus just spewing hot air everywhere.

Miss the days of hinged cases from Dell.....

Yes, I miss the old style cases. I'm cleaning up a case from an old (2000) HP Pavilion for my neighbor's wife. It had a 100w Bestec Mini power supply without a 4 pin 12v plug for the motherboard, so I ordered a replacement on eBay that is 300w and comes with the 4 pin plug. This will be a nice case for her PC.
